Welcome to the APDLS Automated Pilot Despatch and Logging System. The system has been designed and programmed by QVA's Executive Officer Senior Captain Ivan Ngeow. All QVA pilots are requested to read the instructions below to familiarise themselves with the APDLS.
Overview
The APDLS is a script-driven server-side application that handles the mundane
chores of VA management. It keeps track of pilot logbook hours, by receiving
flight bids and issuing flight assignments, and processing flight reports. It
handles pilot applications, promotions and resignations, and honours aircraft
type ratings. Browsing of the entire flight schedule database is also supported.
Please note the following:
Lists of airport IATA / ICAO codes and flight routes are available.
Any bids/reports you send, even if you get an error message, will be received and stored on the server -- do not resend !!
You MUST send in your flight reports for the currently assigned flights, before sending in new bids. Any new bids made will overwrite the previous assignments such that any reported hours will not be credited !
When sending bids, use the prescribed form, and enter your bids all on a single line, separated by a SPACE. eg "MEL-SYD PER-ADL". You may also enter each bid on a separate line. Use IATA (3-letter) or ICAO (4-letter) airport codes, with a single hyphen (dash) between origin and destination. You can chain bids with common airports together, eg "SYD-MEL-ADL-PER" to represent "SYD-MEL MEL-ADL ADL-PER".
Each time you send a bid, all previous bids are erased. hence send all bids together in one go.
You will be given a despatch sheet, accessible by following the link in
the Assignment column of the pilot roster. This
despatch sheet lists your assignments like this:
QVF531
(733) YPAD-YPPH
(ADL-PER)
09:35-10:00
(00:05z-02:00z)
duration
1:55
TOTAL FLIGHT
HOURS
ASSIGNED:
1:55
You will only be assigned flights in aircraft that you hold a current type rating for.
Freight flights are now supported automatically using APDLS. Just pull down the drop down menu for your choice of normal passenger, freight flights. Please note though that chartered flights are not yet supported by APDLS and any request for these options will be via request only.
You may also be assigned stop-over flights along the same sector as the one you bid for. Note carefully any equipment change along the way. APDLS will make sure you are type rated for all equipment used along the sector.
Flight reports are to be made using the prescribed form,
with one flight report per line. The required fields are flight number,
aircraft type, fuel burn, departure time (Zulu), arrival time(Zulu). The
format for data entry is:
QVF531 733 9.6
00:05z-02:00z
Flight hours will be credited for those flights which were (i) assigned to you in a previous bid, (ii) flown in an aircraft in which you hold a current rating, and whose totals do not exceed 36 hours a week.
First, set yourself a password (below).
Next, look up the available flights in your type rating on the Flight Routes page, then go to the Flight Bidding page and make some bids. After receiving your assignments, check the weather at the airports. Enjoy your flight, and come back to the Flight Reporting page and write a few comments on your flight. Submit your flight times.
The Schedule Browser allows you to search for any QVA flight using different criteria. It returns essential information on each flight, eg equipment and flight times.
The APDLS Pilot Roster lists all pilots currently flying for QVA, their hours, ranks, aircraft ratings, bids and assignment status.
Pilot reports are stored and are publicly viewable. Find out how your fellow pilots' flights went !
Pilot statistics tabulate pilot activity and efficiency ratings.
The company NOTAMs are a vital source of information and announcements. Check them frequently.
