Jetstar 717-200
Qantas operate a low cost domestic carrier called Jetstar which commenced operations in May 2004. This is a world wide concept and as usual, QVA will commence virtual operations with Jetstar fully apdls operational. This makes 2 low cost Qantas group carriers now - Australian Airlines (international and east coast operations) and Jetstar (domestic australia wide). Jetstar utilised the old Impulse AOC (airline operators certificate) and will use the 717-200 until the arrival of the first A320 but will replace the 717-200 overtime and eventually Jetstar will be a full A320 Airbus fleet comprising of a total of 23 x A320 aircraft. Initially the 717's were painted in an all white livery - void of any branding, over time some were repainted into the full Jetstar livery, some just had the jetstar logo added onto the white fuselage. The Jetstar 717 has since transferred back to Qantaslink as the full fleet of 23 Jetstar A320's came into service (2006)
